Father Bechter

Fr. Paul Bechter’s Brief Biography

I was born in Houston, TX on February 3, 1988 to Allan and Patricia Bechter. When I was six years old, we moved to the small island of Bermuda-- a part of the British Commonwealth-- where I spent my childhood and where my parents still live.
After graduating from high school in Bermuda, I wanted to return to Texas, and so attended the University of Dallas in Irving to study physics. It was there I heard the vocation to the priesthood for the first time, and it was in large part due to the impact of UD on my faith that I joined seminary for the Diocese of Dallas.

After finishing at UD and Holy Trinity Seminary in 2011, I was sent by Bishop Farrell to attend major seminary in Rome at the Pontifical North American College. I spent two years there studying theology and enjoying the pasta before I returned to Dallas for my pastoral year at St. Ann. Returning to Rome after that wonderful year, I have since finished my theology degree, been ordained a deacon, and begun another degree at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Sacred Scripture.

After ordination to the priesthood on May 21, 2016, and after celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Ann the following day, I will return to Rome for two more years to continue my studies in Scripture before finally coming home to the Diocese of Dallas.
